Context
Michael Bosanko started light graffiti in the summer of Greece 2004. He was photographing the moon but it went wrong and he saw that the moon left a trail of light. He then started to take it further. His inspiration came from his imagination, expected and unexpected avenues, the environment, Mother Nature: Earth, fire, water and air and from TV culture such as Blade Runner, Close Encounters of the Third King and Lost.
The tools he uses are a digital pro canon gear, Standard bulbs, LEDs, fire or anything he can get his hands on that emit light. Also when the mood takes him he uses film. He makes light graffiti for TV commercials, film, company profiles, billboards, animations, Global campaigns, tabloid, magazine editors, Private commission, viral animations, album covers and work shops.

Analysis
What can I see?
The genre of this photograph is landscape, abstract and natural world. I can see from the bottom right corner, orange bulb-shaped light grafitti is heading towards the left side. These lights have tails, and a stream of light coming from behind them, so you can clearly see which way they are coming from. This lights always look like wisps runnnig from something as the streams of light indicates they are moving quite fast.Toward the centre of the photograph I can see a big ball of light, where the wisps are heading, and this makes it look more like they are running away from something. Also around this lights are beams of light, that look like they are following them.
Feelings and Mood
This picture reminds me of reproduction, when the sperm races towards the egg to fertilise with it. My opinion on this is photo is that t is very good and interesting. What makes it interesting is the colours and shapes of the lights and also setting he chose as the background and the time of day he took the photo. I chose this piece to annotate because to me it stood out compared to all his other photographs.
Composition
The focal point of the photo is the right side of the photo because it is the brightest part of the photo and the longest. It also is the part of the photo that stands out. There are leading lines in this photo. They are the orange lights shaped lliked raindrop with trail of light behind it. They lead to the circle of light in the centre of the image. This image is asymmetrical. My eye looks first towards the bottom left hand side of the photo because it is the brightest and biggest part of the photo. My eye looks second at the orange lights because they are at the front of the photo. My eye looks third at the orange circle of light because my eyes are lead to it by the orange lights that I see second.
Colour and Mood
The colours that have been used are orange blue and turquoise. They are also contrasting colours. The mood the colours give the photo is clarity, impractical and idealistic from the colour turquoise and social communication and optimism from the colour orange. The dominant colour on this photograph is orange because there is a lot of the bulbed shape lights. I think the photographer chose orange as the dominant colour because maybe he wanted people to start communicating confidently.
Light and Tone
The direction the light is coming from is from the bottom right and left hand corners. The highlight of the photograph is bottom left hand corner. The mid-tone is the bottom right hand corner and the dark tone is the background at the top of the photo. I think the light does add weight and depth to the photo and it also adds a mood to the photo which is freedom. I think this because the lights look like they are running away. From this artists I learnt I leant how to use light graffiti and how to use it effectively.
What can I see?
In this image I can see a forest of tall slender trees, that have a sort of blue tone to them, from the lighting. There are orange and teal lines of light weaving their way through the trees but all following the same direction, making it look as if the streaks of light were racing. There are also some spots of bright light that I think are meant to look like stars; these are in between the trees and the light. The foreground is leaves on the grass floor, which indicates that this picture was taken around autumn time. The background is the branches of the trees and you can see a tiny bit of sky behind these. The rest of the image is the trees, light streaks and dots; all of these are evenly distributed throughout the image except the "stars" which seem to be more in the middle ground.
Feelings & Mood
This image makes me feel as if I am watching streaks of light have a race through the forest, winding their way through the trees. This gives the viewer a feeling of excitement because races are generally exciting. This also makes me feel curious because I want to know why the light is racing through the woods, where it came from and where it is going. I chose this piece because it intrigued me and I liked the mood it gave me.
Composition
The focal point of this image is the lines of light weaving through the trees, these also act as leading lines but they don't lead you anywhere which gives the viewer a feeling of curiosity. My eye is brought to the focal point first because it is bright and the colour of it contrasts with the colour of the background and foreground. This image is almost given a frame by the darkness of the night which is surrounding the other aspects of the image.
Colour & Mood
In this image contrasting colours have been used; for example the trees and general background/foreground are dull whereas the light winding its way through the trees is bright orange. The colours used for the trees gives an eerie mood and makes the image creepy and feel halloween-ish. The colour of the light streaks gives a fun and exciting mood because of their brightness and vibrance.
Light & Tone
The light is coming from the direction the camera has been placed, I know this because of the shadows the trees are creating. The trees are in highlight and the background is in dark shadows. The light and tone of this image adds depth to the image by creating shadows around the trees which makes them stand out more and look more realistic. The mood given to the image is creepy (without the bright orange) because there are lots of shadows and areas of darkness which is often associated with creepiness and fear.
Texture & Pattern
The texture in this image comes from the leaves & grass in the foreground, the bark of the trees, the branches of the trees in the background and the light streaks running through the centre. These random patterns help to create variation in the image and make it more interesting and complex.
What have I learned?
By looking at Michael Bosanko's work I have learned...
-Light can be used to create shadows, making things look more 3D.
-Leaving the aperture open longer can capture light that has been moved around, and the light will appear as shapes and lines in the image
-Colours can give off different moods in images.
