Rule of Thirds
The “Rule of Thirds” one of the first things that budding digital photographers learn about in classes on photography and rightly so as it is the basis for well balanced and interesting shots. The basic principle behind the rule of thirds is to imagine breaking an image down into thirds (both horizontally and vertically) so that you have 9 parts.
Depth of Field
Depth of field refers to the range of distance that appears acceptably sharp. It varies depending on camera type, aperture and focusing distance, although print size and viewing distance can also influence our perception of depth of field

Balance Symmetrical and asymmetrical
Symmetrical is when if you either cut a picture in half or fold it, both sides will be the same, nothing different between them both. Asymmetrical is when they are not the same at all not a bit, for example a square is symmetrical but a triangle is not

Leading Lines and perspective
In composition Leading Lines are a great way to direct attention. They create a "path" for the eye to follow through the picture to arrive at "the subject". The best leading lines are parallel lines facing north, e.g. a train track.
